Huddersfield Town may have triple issue to overcome if £2.5m transfer dream is realised
Huddersfield Town’s goalkeeping struggled in 2024–25, although they might need to have a clearout before they can improve for the
upcoming campaign.
Huddersfield suffered a challenging finish to the 2024–25 season, finishing in 10th place and dropping out of League One’s play-off
spots.
The Terriers struggled with goal-scoring the previous season, but they will need to make some adjustments if they want to improve.
The club may need to try to let go of certain players who weren’t able to meet expectations in 2024–2025 because the change that
Huddersfield is apparently looking to make won’t be inexpensive.
Nathan Lowe impressed last season, but Huddersfield need a clearout to accommodate him
Nathan Lowe, who made an impression when on loan at Walsall during a half-season loan from Stoke City last season, is reportedly a
target for Huddersfield. Lowe finished the season as League Two’s Young Player of the Season after scoring 15 goals in 22 appearances
for the Saddlers.
However, given that the rumoured asking price for Lowe is around £2.5 million, they would need to get rid of some of their current
players.
One has already departed. With 11 goals in 37 games last season, Josh Koroma was the only Huddersfield player to score ten goals or
more. However, he left the team after his contract ended at the end of June.
Ahead of the upcoming season, the Terriers’ other offensive alternatives don’t appear to be very tempting. Freddie Ladapo arrived
during the summer transfer window of 2024 from Ipswich. Last season, he failed to score a single goal for Huddersfield in the League.
Bojan Radulovic has failed miserably. Before being sent out on loan to the Dutch team Fortuna Sittard for the second half of the
season, he was only able to score one goal in 17 games, and he only managed to score one goal in 10 games for them.
Rhys Healey made a somewhat stronger comeback for them the previous season, scoring one goal in nine League games, but his
limited playing time is indicative of how much he has been dealing with injuries.
Huddersfield’s 2024-25 goal-scoring issues still need fixing

One table, and the biggest single reason why they were unable to successfully challenge for a place in the play-offs. Dion Charles and
Joe Taylor remain with the club, but will both need competition.
| Huddersfield’s Top Goalscorers 2024-25 (ESPN) | ||
|---|---|---|
| Player | Appearances | Goals |
| Josh Koroma | 37 | 11 |
| Callum Marshall | 43 | 9 |
| Ben Wiles | 45 | 8 |
| Dion Charles | 42 | 7 (all with Bolton) |
Radulovic has two years left on his contract, Healey has one year left on his, and Ladapo has one year left on his. Although the loan
market may be a possibility for the forwards who haven’t been scoring, moving on might not be simple.
Huddersfield may need to improve their own team in order to acquire Nathan Lowe, but he might end up being the answer to their
prayers. The first step must be that clearout.
