Huddersfield Town had a difficult 2024-25 season in front of goal, but if they’re to remedy this for the new season, they may have to have a clearout first.
Huddersfield had a rough end to the 2024-25 season, falling out of League One’s play-off spots and finishing 10th in the table.
The Terriers struggled to score goals last season, but if they want to improve, they will need to make some changes. However, the change that Huddersfield are apparently looking to make will not be inexpensive, therefore the club may need to try to offload some of those who failed to perform in 2024-25.
Nathan Lowe impressed last season, but Huddersfield need a clearout to accommodate him
Huddersfield are reportedly interested in signing Nathan Lowe, who impressed on loan at Walsall last season after joining from Stoke City for a half-season. Lowe scored 15 goals in 22 appearances for the Saddlers, finishing the season as League Two’s Young Player of the Season.
However, with Lowe’s reported price of around £2.5 million, it may be essential to wipe out some of the existing players.
Someone has already left. Josh Koroma was the only Huddersfield player to hit double figures in front of goal last season, with 11 goals in 37 games, but his contract expired at the end of June, and he has since departed the club.

The Terriers’ other attacking alternatives do not appear very tempting ahead of the new season. Freddie Ladapo arrived from Ipswich during the summer 2024 transfer window. He failed to score a single League goal for Huddersfield previous season.
Bojan Radulovic has been a flop. He managed only one goal in 17 games before being loaned out to the Dutch club Fortuna Sittard for the second half of the season, where he scored once in ten appearances.
Rhys Healey’s return for them last season was slightly better, with one goal in nine League outings, although his low number of appearances reflects the extent to which he has struggled with injuries.
Huddersfield’s 2024-25 goal-scoring issues still need fixing
Huddersfield’s 58 League goals in 46 League One matches last season were the fewest in the top half of the table, and the main reason they were unable to fight for a spot in the play-offs. Dion Charles and Joe Taylor remain at the club, but both will require competition.

|---|---|---|
| Player | Appearances | Goals |
| Josh Koroma | 37 | 11 |
| Callum Marshall | 43 | 9 |
| Ben Wiles | 45 | 8 |
| Dion Charles | 42 | 7 (all with Bolton) |
Ladapo has a year left on his contract, Radulovic has two years, and Healey has one year. Moving on from forwards who haven’t scored may be difficult, but the loan market may be an alternative for them.
Nathan Lowe could be the solution to Huddersfield’s prayers, but they may need to improve their own squad before securing him. That clearout must happen first.
