been terminated by mutual consent.”

Chansiri and the Owls leadership now face the difficult task of replacing Smith and Windass’ ambitions in the midst of the current
financial crisis.
Together, the forwards contributed 30 goals last season, which accounted for half of the Owls’ 2024–2025 total goals.
Given that 2025–2026 might be the greatest Championship season ever, the Owls could very well be relegated the next season if
Hillsborough’s financial problems continue into the following campaign and the team fails to sufficiently replace the high-profile
players leaving this summer.
When Sheffield Wednesday were last relegated from the Championship
season, even though Sheffield Wednesday was last in the top level more than 20 years ago.
After a terrible season in which Sheffield Wednesday was relegated to the third division following a thrilling 3-3 final-day draw with
Derby County, the Owls were demoted to League One for the 2020–21 season.
