According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Sunderland have agreed to sign Sassuolo winger Armand Lauriente.
According to reports, the Black Cats have agreed to pay €20 million (£17 million) for the French attacker, with personal terms also agreed.
Lauriente is likely to become Sunderland’s seventh signing of the summer, joining Habib Diarra, Simon Adingra, Enzo Le Fee, Chemsdine Talbi, Noah Sadiki, and Reinildo.
Lauriente was a notable player in Serie B last season, helping Sassuolo gain an immediate return to Italy’s top league. In 33 league appearances, the Frenchman scored 18 goals and assisted six times, finishing as the top scorer in Serie B.

Lauriente will rejoin with his former Lorient manager Regis Le Bris, who led the Black Cats last season, as well as ex-teammate Le Fee, after joining Sunderland.
Lauriente played three seasons at Sassuolo after signing in 2022 and has extensive experience in the top tiers of Italian and French football.
During his first two seasons with Sassuolo, he appeared in 65 Serie A games and scored 24 goals.

Sunderland’s summer business shows no signs of slowing, as the Black Cats attempt to strengthen their squad and avoid an immediate return to the Championship next season.
According to reports in France, Le Bris’ side is also looking for a new central defender, having had a £23 million deal for Lille’s Bafode Diakite rejected.
