Huddersfield Town Miss Out on £1.2m Target as Wrexham Bid

League One team As an offer is planned, it is more probable than not that one of Huddersfield Town’s top objectives will join Championship newcomers Wrexham.

Following a dismal season in which their prospects of promotion quickly faded, the Terriers are getting ready for the upcoming campaign under their new manager, Lee Grant.

With the signing of Ryan Ledson, Lyndon Gooch, Joe Low, Marcus Harness, and Sean Roughan of Lincoln City, among others, they have been rather active in the window thus far.

They are still searching for a variety of targets this summer, though, so their work is far from done.

One name they have been heavily linked to is Bolton Wanderers captain George Thomason. However it now appears as though they will miss out on the signing.

Huddersfield Town Miss Out on Bolton Wanderers Captain to Wrexham

According to Bolton News, League One promotion winners Wrexham are contemplating a £1.2 million proposal for Thomason, which the Terriers will probably be unable to match this summer.

After spending two stints at Bamber Bridge, the 24-year-old solidified his spot in the first team squad after joining Bolton from non-league Longridge.

He has since made 169 appearances for the team, contributing 16 assists and 13 goals.

Because of his influence, Thomason is the club’s captain and a vital member.

He has a deal with the team till 2027.

This means that the power is in the Trotters’ hands and they are within their rights to ask for a large fee.

Huddersfield have not been afraid to spend big in recent windows.

However, it is understood from sources close to the deal that they are unwilling to get dragged into a bidding war against Wrexham with their larger resources.

Where Next for Lee Grant’s Side?

The League One roster for this season appears to be completely available.

You may argue that any one of the twelve clubs in the division should run for promotion.

Lee Grant will be aware of this and eager to seize the opportunity to advance.

Although the club would have benefited greatly from Thomason’s departure, he was probably just one name on a list of possible candidates for the job.
