Sheffield United has a plethora of young, exciting talent rising through its ranks, and Ryan Oné is at the top of many Blades supporters’ lists.
The 2006-born frontman was included to half of the Blades’ 2024/25 Championship matchday squads and scored the equaliser on his Championship debut against Bristol City at Ashton Gate last November.

The newly turned 19-year-old has a lot of potential at Bramall Lane and has had a fantastic pre-season, scoring twice in Sheffield United’s 6-2 victory over National League side York City.
The exciting Scotsman is doing everything he can to put himself in Ruben Selles’ sights when it comes to selecting his squads for the upcoming Championship season, but some Blades fans believe that a loan move away from the club this season would benefit him even more, as it would provide Oné with the opportunity to gain valuable, regular minutes.
Jimmy, the host of the Blades Ramble podcast and FLW’s Sheffield United fan commentator, agrees with this assessment and believes the kid may make an immediate impact in League One this season.
Ryan Oné in League One: Blades fan pundit believes a loan move will be beneficial

Given Ryan Oné’s outstanding performance in their pre-season friendly away to York, many Blades fans believe the 19-year-old might play an important role in Ruben Selles’ first season in command at Bramal Lane.
Jimmy believes a loan move would be more helpful, but he understands that “some Blades fans may disagree.”
“Because of the brief stint in pre-season, scoring two goals in 45 minutes, some may say that he has a part to play in the squad going forward,” he told reporters.
“But, in my opinion, Oné has to have some experience on loan.
“There’s a huge talent there, but I don’t think he gets past our current starters.”
Jimmy did not mention any clubs when asked where he believes the child should go, but he did remark, “It has to be the right club that plays in the correct system and will care after him and make sure he plays.
“Perhaps a loan with a January recall, because if he starts lighting up League One, as he has the ability to do, we might want him back here in the second part of the season.
“But he needs minutes desperately to accelerate his development, and I’m not sure if we can offer it at first team level here at the moment.”
Ryan Oné could benefit from a League One loan this season

Sheffield United already has a number of senior strikers on its roster, with Kieffer Moore, Tom Cannon, and Tyrese Campbell all vying for the starting striker position.
As a result, if Oné is to play this season, he will most likely do so in intermittent, brief stints from the bench, as he did last season.
Oné might cause problems in the lower leagues if he plays frequently, and if he becomes available on loan this summer, a slew of League One clubs will form a chaotic queue to sign him on a short-term basis.
That would put the Scottish U21 international in prime position to compete for a starting slot in the 2026/27 season. Blades fans can be excited about his development, but they may have to wait another year to see it happen at Bramall Lane.
