Striker who scored on debut before West Brom release in 2024 could be set for EFL return after goalscoring form

In recent years, Albion’s liberated children have gone in diverse directions.

Jovan Malcolm, the striker who made his debut for Albion’s first team, was one of the many who left for non-league

teams.

At the age of six, he joined Albion and progressed through the ranks at The Hawthorns before making his senior

debut against Chesterfield in an FA Cup replay under Carlos Corberan.

And he took full advantage of the opportunity, scoring in his debut.

He was then hoping to make the grade and aiming for more first team appearances.

For Malcolm, however, things didn’t exactly work out that way.

He had scored two goals in five first team appearances – but was released alongside a host of other young talents last

summer.

He rocked up at National League side Gateshead and penned a two year deal.
