‘Crystal Palace could win Conference League after decision made

After being demoted into the Conference League, Crystal Palace has a chance to win it the next season. In May, Oliver Glasner’s team defeated Manchester City 1-0 at Wembley to win their first major prize and guarantee a spot in the Europa League.

However, after determining that co-owner John Textor violated the organization’s multi-club ownership regulations, Uefa kicked Palace out of the second-tier European competition. Due to Uefa regulations that forbid teams controlled by the same owners or directors from participating in the same European competition, the American billionaire owns stock in Lyon, who qualified for the Europa League as well.

Palace are now set to play in the Conference League next season, while Nottingham Forest have been promoted into the Europa League.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider it “wouldn’t be a disaster” if Palace were to have a late run in the Conference League.

On July 9, Football Insider reported that Palace was prepared to file an immediate appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the event that the Uefa ruling was unfavourable. The South London club will file an appeal with CAS, according to chairman Steve Parish. The international organisation, which has its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, uses mediation and arbitration to resolve conflicts pertaining to sports.

Regarding a departure from Selhurst Park, Football Insider reported on July 21 that Palace had accepted a proposal from WSG Tirol for Ademola Ola-Adebomi. The 21-year-old striker has been given permission by Glasner’s team to speak with the Austrian first division team. Ola-Adebomi registered 12 goals in 13 Premier League 2 games in the second half of last season after spending the first half of the campaign on loan at SK Beveren.
