Sheffield Wednesday goalscorers revealed in secret Owls win over York City

Sheffield Wednesday ran out as 3-0 winners over York City in a secret behind-closed-doors friendly last week.

Wednesday fans have been left with more questions than answers this preseason, with players leaving the club, no new arrivals through the door, and no first team fixtures confirmed as preparations for the 2025/26 season continue.

An Owls XI recently defeated a Manchester City U23 outfit at St. George’s Park, with Wednesday’s goals believed to have been scored by Jamal Lowe, Jarvis Thornton, and Olaf Kobacki as they came from behind to secure victory; however, the only publicised games since then have involved Wednesday’s U18s and U21s.

Sheffield Wednesday beat York City at the weekend

However, it is believed that a fixture took place over the weekend, with the Owls taking to the field in another warm-up game, this time against Adam Hinshelwood’s Minstermen, at Wednesday’s Middlewood Road training base.

Nothing has been made public, so it is unknown who was in control of the game or how the Owls lined up, but The Star believes Svante Ingelsson, Sean Fusire, and Reece Johnson scored the goals as the Owls kept a clean sheet and earned another victory.

It remains to be seen whether another game will be played early this week, although they are scheduled to play Mansfield Town at a ‘neutral location’ and behind closed doors this Saturday, July 26th, at 3pm.
