Manchester City has scored yet another prize from English football’s academy systems, signing one of the brightest young strikers in the EFL.
Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri joins City as the latest illustration of the club’s ambitious young recruitment policy, which focuses on high-ceiling players from across the domestic game.
With Premier League powers still planning for a long-term future that extends success beyond the first squad, signings like Cadamarteri send a clear message: the pipeline to the top is just as important as elite-level recruitment.
Manchester City has a history of discovering and acquiring outstanding junior talent before they reach the price tags of senior-level stars, frequently relying on a network of scouts and analysts spread across the EFL.
In recent years, they have signed players from West Ham, including Divine Mukasa. Cadamarteri’s move fits the same profile: a player with elite youth numbers who possesses the physical traits and technical sharpness required by City’s Academy system.

Importantly, the 15-year-old forward comes with a strong pedigree. Cadamarteri’s most recent season at Wednesday was excellent, with 24 goals and 10 assists in 23 games for the club’s Under-18 squad.
That return also included excellent efforts in the Floodlit Cup, where he scored 19 goals in just eight games. Long before City made their first formal offer, his name had already become well-known among many academy footballers.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri has left Sheffield Wednesday for Manchester City’s Academy this summer, completing a five-step process permitted by the Premier League.
City’s pursuit has lasted several months, with initial attempts in April rejected by Sheffield Wednesday despite a reported seven-figure offer. However, confidence in the Etihad camp remained high, and in early June, Fabrizio Romano revealed that a deal had been reached.
Local reports at the time indicated that a fee of around £1.5 million had been agreed upon, with only the player’s return from a holiday in Dubai and the successful completion of a medical standing between him and formal confirmation of the switch.
The trade is now complete, allowing City to integrate Cadamarteri into their system ahead of the upcoming campaign. Given the club’s past record of identifying and developing talent quickly, he could soon be playing for EDS if his progress continues at the same astounding rate.
Looking ahead, Manchester City’s staff will constantly observe the adolescent, as they are recognized for customizing progression pathways based on both technical ability and psychological readiness. There is also the greater background of City’s success in advancing young forwards into senior football, whether through internal promotion, the City Football Group network, or well-timed loan spells in the Championship and Europe.
