Huddersfield Town and Bolton Wanderers could reportedly enter the race to sign Barnsley midfielder Luca Connell.
The 24-year-old has been the subject of significant speculation in recent weeks, with Wycombe Wanderers placing bids.
He is an undoubtedly gifted operator who has previously thrived in League One, although his 2024/25 campaign was not very noteworthy.
While the Chairboys have sought him, it appears that other teams in the third tier may be interested as well.

According to Daily Express reporter Charlie Gordon, Huddersfield and Bolton could both bid for the midfielder.
He also claims Wycombe have made a fourth bid to the Reds as they try to sign the former Celtic prospect.
He wrote on X, “Wycombe have submitted a fourth bid for Luca Connell.” Chairboys are still waiting for a formal response from Barnsley, as the full valuation has not been met, and other clubs (Bolton/Huddersfield) may enter the picture. However, the offer is still under evaluation.
Luca Connell’s future
Connell may not have shone out during the Reds’ tough 2024/25 season, but the possibility of losing him does not appear tempting.
He has already demonstrated quality, and working under former midfielder Conor Hourihane might be quite useful.
However, after three years in South Yorkshire, Connell may be tempted to make a fresh start somewhere else.

Barnsley signed the midfielder in 2022 after he failed to make the grade in Scotland with Celtic.
He joins the Bhoys in 2019 following a senior breakthrough at Bolton. Connell may be forgiven for believing he has unfinished business with the Trotters, who were facing financial difficulties when he left.
Huddersfield, however, is shown plenty of ambition in an attempt to get back on track. Huddersfield, like Barnsley, finished in the middle of the league despite being projected for promotion.
The Terriers appear to be interested in signing a new midfielder and have been linked with Birmingham City’s Marc Leonard.
