Norwich City are in advanced talks to recruit West Brom-linked Jeffrey Schlupp after he left Crystal Palace, according to Football Insider.
Norwich City are looking to sign the former Ghana international. NCFC is ready for another season in the Championship.
Schlupp, 32, left Crystal Palace at the end of last season after a loan spell at Celtic. According to Football Insider, West Brom have expressed interest in signing him.
However, according to the latest update from the same source, the Canaries are now ‘poised’ to swoop in and get his signature. They hired Liam Manning, formerly of Bristol City, as manager earlier this summer.
After joining Celtic on a temporary basis last winter, he stated, “I am very thrilled to join Celtic, such a large and legendary name in sport. I spoke with Brendan (Rodgers), and I am excited to work with him and the rest of the squad as we seek to bring more silverware to our supporters. The squad has already performed admirably this season, both domestically and in Europe, and I am aware that I am joining a very successful team, but I want to contribute to this, to play my own role in helping us accomplish even more.”
Norwich City is in talks with Jeffrey Schlupp, amid interest from West Brom.
Schlupp might be seen as a potential addition to Norwich City’s team. Manning has the opportunity to establish his own identity on his freshly inherited group by bringing in some new players.
The German-born player progressed via Leicester City’s academy system. He went on to play 150 games for the Foxes, including a loan spell at Brentford.
Schlupp joined Crystal Palace in 2016 and was an excellent servant to the Eagles. He made 247 appearances in all competitions and scored 19 goals.
He was then granted the go light to join Celtic in the past January transfer window. However, the Hoops will not re-sign him permanently.
What next for Jeffrey Schlupp?
Schlupp will most likely be able to play regularly in the second tier with Norwich City. NCFC will be aiming for a berth in the playoffs.
The Canaries missed out on the top six last season. That eventually cost Johannes Hoff Thorup his job, paving the path for Manning’s entrance.
West Brom may need to search elsewhere for reinforcements. The Baggies are preparing for life under new manager Ryan Mason.
The 34-year-old quit his position as coach at Tottenham Hotspur to take over at The Hawthorns. He was chosen as Tony Mowbray’s replacement and signed a three-year contract in the Midlands that runs until 2028.
