After five and a half years at Bristol City, Wells was expected to depart this summer, according to an earlier window

“gutted” about the veteran forward’s departure.
Wells, 35, joined League One team Luton Town this summer after leaving the Robins after making 237 appearances,
tallying 48 goals and 19 assists.
The Bermuda international has opened up about his “upsetting exit,” which has left Wells and the Robins supporters
still in shock.
“It was like being stabbed in the heart to not have been given the chance to stay at the club, in any way,” Wells said to
Bristol’s One Stream.
“I was informed that a specific person at the football club would make me an offer, after which I would not hear from
them for six weeks.
“A new manager took over after the previous one left.
“I get the phone as soon as he’s introduced, saying that he and they wish to take a different route and that I’m not
needed.
It was assumed that I didn’t receive the desired length of my contract. I didn’t receive the pay I had hoped for or
desired.
“I just had no choice but to leave the football club. In that regard, I had a really distressing summer.
Struber and new center-forward Jakobsen now have the responsibility of defending Bristol City’s choice to allow
Wells to depart.

after six seasons of service.
The need to increase the number of goal scorers was Bristol City’s main issue during the summer transfer window,
and Wells’ departure made it even more crucial.
Earlier in the season, Jakobsen caught Sunderland’s attention thanks to his stellar Preston campaign, where he
finished with 12 goals and two assists from 45 league games.

more crucial that the Dane start strong because the upcoming season might be the greatest Championship yet.
Wells hinted that Struber and Bristol City manager Brian Tinnion were the ones who allowed him to leave, so it
