Huddersfield Town are seeking to continue their onslaught on Birmingham City with their second signing in a matter of days.
Earlier this week, the League One club secured the transfer of forward Alfie May from St Andrews after only one season.
The Terriers now appear to be close to signing midfield master Marc Leonard, who has just spent a short time in the West Midlands after joining from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion last summer.
The 23-year-old, who has represented Scotland from U17 to U21 level, has three years remaining on his current contract, with Transfermarkt estimating his transfer value at £650k.
But, according to Sky Sports, Huddersfield are looking into both permanent and loan options for the central midfielder.
Leonard was in and out of the squad under Chris Davies last season, appearing in 47 games across all competitions and contributing five assists as the Blues won League One and were promoted back to the Sky Bet Championship.
If he completes a deal, he might join May at the John Smith’s Stadium, who went for pastures new a year after joining from Charlton Athletic.

The striker scored 17 goals in 57 appearances for the Blues, becoming a fan favourite.
Speaking about the signing, Huddersfield’s new manager and former goalkeeper Lee Grant told the club’s website: “Alfie is a natural goalscorer with a formidable record in recent years, so we’re really pleased to bring him into the group ahead of the new season kicking off.”
“He possesses a strong mentality, an infectious personality, and a strong sense of belief, all of which are characteristics of successful strikers.
“His skill set differs from what we already have in the group, and he complements the players with whom he will be playing well, so we are excited to get started with him this week.
“Alfie is another player we’ve introduced to the squad this summer that knows what’s required to be successful at the right end of this division, and that experience will be invaluable across the course of the season.”
Outgoings are a priority for Birmingham City, who have already confirmed a handful of acquisitions in the hopes of achieving back-to-back promotions and ending their 14-year hiatus from the Premier League.
So far this summer, the team has signed Kyogo Furuhashi, Taylor Gardner-Hickman, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Demarai Gray, Phil Neumann, Alfons Sampsted, Tommy Doyle (loan), and James Beadle (loan).
