“An absolute joke of a signing” – Claim made as Birmingham City close in on “ridiculous” transfer
We at Football League World hear that Birmingham City is getting closer to signing Werder Bremen’s lucky player,
Marvin Ducksch.
With no less than nine new players now signed at St Andrew’s, the Blues are having a very successful summer of
recruitment thus far.
After Chris Davies’ team dominated League One the previous season, the additions of Kyogo Furuhashi, Demarai
Grey, and Tommy Doyle, respectively, demonstrate their amazing drive to earn back-to-back promotions the
following season.
According to exclusive information obtained by Football League World, the team is interested in signing Ducksch, a
31-year-old who was linked to a move this week, raising the possibility of another addition.
Negotiations with the green-whites are now well advanced, and the seasoned German striker is sought to lead the
team’s Championship push next season.
Birmingham fan pundit Jason told Football League World that he thinks the Blues’ signing of Ducksch is a major
announcement that outlines their goals.
“An absolute joke” – German forward would be a huge Blues statement

at his track record, and he just looks like someone who scores goals, especially in the Bundesliga, a very good
league,” he remarked.
“As I have said before, all Blues fans need to trust this board and what they are doing,” he said prior to discussing
Alfie May’s departure. “As much as I love Alfie May, in the nicest way possible, he is probably not good enough to be
at the top end of the Championship.”
“Instead, bringing in a proven Bundesliga goalscorer is an absolute joke.”
“I don’t think it matters, even at his age, and it demonstrates the values of the club and its owners. Having Kyogo,
Jay Stansfield, and now Ducksch is frightening.
Jason underlined in his conclusion: “It’s a complete farce of a signing. I can’t wait.
Marvin Ducksch almost guarantees goals for Birmingham
Since moving to the Weserstadion in 2021, Ducksch has gone on to become one of Werder’s most important players.
He has scored 34 goals and weighed in with 25 assists during the past three seasons in the Bundesliga, helping to
reestablish one of Germany’s biggest names in the top flight following a mini-blip in the 2. Bundesliga.
| Ducksch’s Werder Bremen career stats (all comps) – per FotMob | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Avg. match rating |
| 24/25 | 36 | 9 | 10 | 7.3/10 |
| 23/24 | 34 | 13 | 9 | 7.3/10 |
| 22/23 | 35 | 12 | 6 | 7.3/10 |
| 21/22 | 29 | 20 | 9 | 8/10 |
Even at 31, a signing of his calibre would not just be a statement for Birmingham, it would almost guarantee goals.
With outstanding options already available at the top, Ducksch adds great experience and a track record of scoring
goals. From set pieces, the 31-year-old also contributes extraordinary talent.
Given the Blues’ already impressive level of ambition, it appears that the team is not quite finished yet. Ducksch
might be a statement addition, joining fellow countryman Phil Neumann, who moved from Hannover, which is not
far from Bremen, a city-state.
