Goncalo Guedes’ time at Wolves has been interesting to say the least.
The forward joined Molineux from Valencia three years ago, and the club’s decision was widely praised at the time.
Goncalo Guedes had a good reputation, and the inclusion of another Portugal international was undoubtedly a plus.
However, Guedes struggled to make an impression after entering and occasionally frustrated spectators with his body language.
Guedes departed Wolves on loan for Benfica after only half a season, with Julen Lopetegui admitting he didn’t want to be there (via Birmingham Mail).
Guedes then started the following season on loan at Benfica before moving to Villarreal for the second half.
Guedes surprised everyone last season when he stayed at Wolves for the entire season after being reintegrated by Gary O’Neil.
It appears that there has been persistent speculation regarding his future, but the athlete may have given a hint in a rare interview.
Goncalo Guedes hints at possible Wolves stay

Guedes has been a’strong presence’ in the Wolves’ pre-season.
Guedes was energetic during the last training camp in Portugal, and E&S journalists Nathan Judah and Liam Keen have noticed that he has a very happy and easygoing appearance.
While in Portugal, Guedes conducted an interview, which is extremely unusual.
He doesn’t speak to reporters very frequently, so it’s interesting to hear what he has to say – and Guedes may have hinted at what may happen to him this summer.
He stated (via E&S): “I feel extremely well. It was nice to enjoy pre-season in my country, and with this sun, I believe it is very excellent,” Guedes added.
“I’m feeling great. The training is difficult, but the intensity is appropriate. “It’s crucial during this season.” I always feel really wonderful in the group. I believe I work really well with my teammates, the coach, and the staff.
“What matters most is that everyone is friendly. Last season, I arrived after ten or fifteen days. But now I’ve completed the entire preseason, which I believe is critical for me.
“I’ve had two challenging years since I had two knee operations, but now that the season is over, I think I’m feeling extremely good and confident. I believe this will be a terrific season for me.
“The most important is the team starts with a good level and wins the most possible points in the first games.”
Guedes may stay at Wolves amid transfer interest
These are arguably not the comments of a player who wishes to quit the football club.
Guedes sounds quite satisfied right now, talking about the upcoming season with Wolves and how much he enjoys working with people around him.
Of course, it is still possible that he will be sold.
This summer, Guedes has been connected with both Flamengo and Besiktas. Those clubs might come in and put Wolves’ determination to the test.

However, Pereira showed a love for Guedes last season, giving him numerous opportunities.
And he contributed 10 goals, demonstrating that he has quality to provide.
If Guedes is as effective at Wolves as he appears to be, he is worth keeping, barring a significant offer.
It’s not really an issue of ability with him, so if he’s focused on the game – which he appears to be – he might be an excellent addition to the group under Pereira.
