The amount that QPR is spending to sign FC Schalke’s forward has been made public.

As the 28-year-old’s transfer to West London draws closer, the six-figure price Queens Park Rangers are paying to acquire FC Schalke 04 striker Pape Meissa Ba has been made public.

The Hoops will pay the 2.Bundesliga team, which recently hired former Plymouth Argyle manager Miron Muslic, more than £500,000 for the player, who only joined the Gelsenkirchen-based team in January, according to Patrick Berger of Sky Deutschland.

Julien Stephan, who was appointed in late June to succeed now-Leicester City manager Marti Cifuentes, who was put on gardening leave in the final weeks of the previous Championship season, is still preparing for his first season as Stade Rennais’ manager, much like the aforementioned Muslic.

The former Stade Rennais manager has now managed three additions. Kealey Adamson joined the well-known and dynamic team of Kwame Poku and Amadou Mbengue, who have garnered a lot of praise for their League One campaigns with Reading and Peterborough United, respectively.

Additionally, Stephan is getting closer to completing a deal for the aforementioned Ba in an effort to increase his attacking options before the opening-day match against Preston North End in W12 in two weeks.

For Pape Meissa Ba, Queens Park Rangers will pay FC Schalke 04 a six-figure payment.

Only a few days ago, the capital team was first reported to be interested. FussballTransfers first reported that Rangers and Schalke were in talks over Ba’s potential recruitment before the new season.

Although it was mentioned at the time that “the finish line is in sight” with reference to the deal’s completion, no fee had been suggested in the original article.

This suggests that previous discussions probably took place before the club’s interest in the Senegalese forward was made clear.

Ba signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the fallen German powerhouses in January after scoring ten goals and dishing out two assists for Grenoble in the first half of the previous season in Ligue 2.

Six months later, though, Schalke is expected to pay a six-figure sum for the Dakar-born forward.

According to Berger’s previously mentioned update, the initial payment is approximately €500,000 (£434,555), but it may go up if bonuses—the details of which have not yet been made public—are fulfilled.

The striker is expected to sign a three-year contract with the West Londoners after an agreement between the two second-tier teams was reached; the deal is reportedly nearing completion.

As the QPR move approaches, Julien Stephan will hope that Pape Meissa Ba can duplicate his French league performance.

Although there is some risk associated with the impending acquisition of Ba, the striker is scheduled to make his English debut at the age of 28,

so if Ba can duplicate his performance in France, the aforementioned amount might be a low-risk, high-reward tactic. Rangers only scored 53 goals in 46 games last season, and no player scored more than Michael Frey’s impressive eight goals.

This highlights the need for more depth in this area if the team is to advance. Ba, who is 6’1, may thrive at Loftus Road, especially if Poku is able to carry over his Peterborough success into the Championship.

He would also gain from the superior service that Ilias Chair can offer.
