Although Championship clubs frequently make absurd choices, QPR’s summer sale of Charlie Kelman would rank

among the worst moves any team could make in the lead-up to the season.

Thanks to some excellent work by Marti Cifuentes to keep them out of danger, QPR went from relegation fodder to

midtable mediocrity last season.

QPR ultimately placed 15th, but there has been significant upheaval at the club ever since. Most famously, Cifuentes,

who is currently Leicester City’s manager, was put on gardening leave.

Although Julien Stephan has stepped in and kept the QPR team together, there are now rumours that they plan to

sell their most promising striker.

Charlie Kelman linked with Luton Town and MLS move

It is believed that Luton Town has made an offer to QPR for Kelman, and two MLS clubs have also approached,

according to Darren Witcoop on Twitter/X. West Brom was rumoured to be interested, but they have now cooled

that interest.

Although the American striker might be enticed to return to his own country, it is likely that he is eager to

demonstrate his abilities in the Championship.

Kelman scored 23 goals last season on loan at Leyton Orient in League One, and was by far one of the best players in

the division. Not only did he score bucketloads, he offered incredible variety in his finishing and linked up well with

those around him.

He is, and was, simply too good for League One. While playing in the US would hardly make Kelman famous, a move

to Luton would be a mistake, particularly if he hopes to play in the World Cup next summer.

It is absurd, to be honest, that QPR is even thinking of letting Kelman go. He is a hidden gem who is ready to blow up

in the Championship.

QPR are tipped for an exciting season in 2025/26, with some even suggesting they could be dark horses for

promotion if things go their way.

Stephan is a talented manager, and the fact that captain Jimmy Dunne signed a new deal speaks volumes for the club

and where it could be heading.

QPR have added Kwame Poku to the mix, which brings a great deal of creativity to the side, something they lacked

last season.

Just ten teams scored fewer goals than QPR’s 53 from the previous campaign. They have a chance to finish in the top

half of the table this year and could have done so if they had a little more firepower.

But the secret to that is having Kelman. If QPR want to sell, it is to be hoped that they have a competent replacement

ready and waiting since his goals might make all the difference.
