Despite all of the background noise at Sheffield Wednesday, Owls fans have focused on one positive heading into the 2025/26 season.
Sheffield Wednesday have been in turmoil this summer, and with the 2025/26 Championship season approaching, there appears to be no end in sight to their current woes under Dejphon Chansiri’s leadership.
The Owls’ first-team roster has been ripped apart, with many Championship clubs racing in to sign Sheffield Wednesday players on the cheap.
There may be more exits in the near future; Preston North End is interested in Max Lowe, and Yan Valery is also being pursued. Even Barry Bannan’s future at Sheffield Wednesday remains unknown, with the midfielder still hoping for a contract extension.
Several issues have plagued the Owls this summer, and while they appear to be struggling following the departure of several key players, fans have found one minor bright spot.

Sheffield Wednesday fans want to see young stars given minutes
Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri moved to first-team squad sales to secure short-term cash for the football club, and it now appears that Danny Rohl will lead a new-look Owls side this season.
Despite all of the problems at the club, a group of hopeful Sheffield Wednesday fans has able to recognize the benefits of playing the kids.
On X, one Sheffield Wednesday fan wrote: “I’m quite excited to see some of our youngsters playing.”
The Owls fan received reactions from some fans who said he was displaying naïve optimism amid all of the drama, but one stated that ‘Fusire, Shipston, and Cadamarteri (to name a few) are all extremely talented players and possibly the club’s future.’
The debate continued, with another supporter saying: “I believe they are all talented young men who lack experience in first-team football and at this level.” I believe they still deserve to play in front of players who have already demonstrated that they are not good enough, will not improve, and will not return next season.”
Picking out the kids who Sheffield Wednesday fans are most forward to seeing, Bailey Cadamarteri was cited as he returns to the club after playing for Lincoln City last season, while another supporter claimed that ‘Thornton is excellent’ and deserves to feature in the first team this season.

Danny Rohl will have an important role to play in the youngsters’ development
If Danny Rohl is retained as Sheffield Wednesday manager, the German may be encouraged to give young players more game time.
He used Sean Fusire in the EFL Cup last season, where he stood out among a group of older players, and his role will undoubtedly become more crucial this season under the German.
Rohl has historically demonstrated success in offering young people a chance to shine and taking advantage of such opportunities. His first season witnessed the rise of Bailey Cadamarteri, who, like Fusire, is expected to be a significant player in the upcoming season.
Sheffield Wednesday will face an uphill battle this season, but hopefully they can weather the storm.
