Birmingham City project ‘hard not to buy into’ – Eiran Cashin

Eiran Cashin, who joined Birmingham City on a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, says it was “hard

not to buy into” the project.

Cashin is no stranger to the second division; in Derby County’s last two Championship seasons, the 23-year-old

made 39 appearances.

The left-footed centre-back Cashin, who was a key member of the Derby team that won the under-18 Premier League

in 2018–19 and helped the first team win promotion in 2023–24, is also familiar with what it’s like to be

surrounding a winning culture. He was selected for the League One Team of the Year after playing in 44 of the Rams’

46 games in the third division that season.

Cashin told Blues+, “Everything that’s happening in the club is visible in the media, and you can see the trajectory

and the way it’s going.” It’s challenging to resist believing that.

“The club has profited greatly from the investment, and I know the proprietors. The players that just joined the team

have all been excellent, and I am also familiar with the boss and his style of play.

“Once more, it was simple to support because it demonstrates the direction the club is taking.”

The defender was born in Nottinghamshire, joined his childhood team Derby at age six, progressed through the

academy and made 144 appearances for the first team before completing a reported £9 million transfer to Brighton

in January.

You would constantly be watching it because of everything that’s going on and how brilliantly the Blues performed

the previous season. Even if you were in the locker rooms before to a game, you would still check out Birmingham’s

performance, outcomes, and total points.

That was impressive, and I want to continue to be a part of that this season. Although I am aware that coming season

will be much more difficult, I would be more than happy to contribute to the team.
