Millwall Close to Announcing Deal for ‘Outstanding’ Premier League Player
Millwall FC are on the verge of strengthening their squad ahead of the new season, with the club close to sealing a deal for a highly rated Premier League player.
The Lions are expected to announce the arrival of Fulham goalkeeper Steven Benda on a season-long loan deal, with manager Alex Neileager to reinforce his goalkeeping options. The 26-year-old, who joined Fulham from Swansea City in 2023, has seen limited game time, largely operating as back-up to Bernd Leno.
Despite his lack of regular action at Craven Cottage, Benda is regarded by many as an “outstanding” shot-stopper and is expected to offer strong competition for Millwall’s number one shirt. A move to The Den could provide the German-born keeper the platform to reassert himself with regular minutes in the Championship.
Millwall have been relatively quiet in the transfer market so far this summer, but preparations are now ramping up, with just weeks to go until the new campaign kicks off. The club still has three friendlies left to play, giving new signings time to integrate.
In addition to Benda’s expected arrival, Millwall are also set to sign Massimo Luongo, who impressed during a trial following his release from Ipswich Town. The Australian midfielder brings vital experience and depth to the Lions’ midfield, adding leadership and stability in the middle of the park.
With supporters eager for further reinforcements and competition in key areas, Millwall’s recent activity is a sign of intent as Neil aims to push the club further up the table this season.
More updates on Benda’s move and other potential signings are expected soon.
