West Ham star excited to face Man Utd at the MetLife Stadium, ‘always a big game.
Manchester United is getting ready to begin the Summer Series in the United States as the preseason gets underway.
The Manchester United players have already played one friendly since returning for the preseason more than two
weeks ago.
Although United was kept to a 0-0 draw with Leeds on a trip to Stockholm, supporters had the chance to get a close-
up look at new acquisition Matheus Cunha. When the head coach made significant changes to the team at halftime,
the Brazilian who had started the game was replaced.
However, United’s Premier League Summer Series opener against West Ham is this weekend. At the MetLife
Stadium in New Jersey, the game begins at 19:00 local time on Saturday night, which is 00:00 local time on Sunday
morning.
After joining the team on tour this week, United supporters will be hoping to see fellow new recruit Bryan Mbeumo
make his debut.
Although it is taking place in the United States, the Premier League Summer Series gives Ruben Amorim a chance to
face teams in the same division ahead of next season. These are the standards his players must be meeting, even
though the Reds won’t play any of the other big English clubs.
United’s first opponents, West Ham, finished a place above United last season in 14th. Graham Potter’s side will be
looking for a win to boost the camp’s mood on tour ahead of the new campaign.
Jarrod Bowen ‘excited’ to face Man Utd at MetLife Stadium
Jarrod Bowen was once again one of West Ham’s star players in 2024/25.
For the second consecutive year, the England international ended the season as the team’s leading scorer with 14
goals, 13 of which came in the Premier League.
Even though West Ham has been playing poorly, Bowen has been a reliable player for a number of years.
In a press conference held in New Jersey prior to the game, the 28-year-old expressed his excitement about playing
United at such a famous stadium because he is already a huge American sports fan.
“As a fan of American sports, being here is also extra special for me,” Bowen told reporters, as cited by West Ham’s
official website.
“I love American Football and the NFL, so being able to train at Rutgers University has been really cool.
“College Football does confuse me a bit! There are a lot of teams, and I’m not sure who’s good and who’s not, but to
see their facilities and the types of stadiums they play in has been really cool.”
Bowen added: “I’m also really excited to play at the MetLife Stadium, which looks incredible!
“We’re playing Manchester United, which is always a big game, and I think we’re all looking forward to getting out
there, and seeing all the fans in attendance as well.
“We play Premier League opponents in three extremely competitive games during the Summer Series. Although we
are aware that they would be difficult, we aim to build on our strong performance against Grasshopper Club Zürich
in Germany.
“We all think we’re doing well and that we’re prepared for the fixtures.”
With a capacity of 82,500, MetLife Stadium is the biggest stadium in the NFL and the home field of the New York
Jets and New York Football Giants.

playing United at the MetLife Stadium.
Potter also mentioned his challenge of juggling the effort between preseason friendly on tour and training sessions.
“So far, the trip has been really good,” Potter said. We’ve gotten used to the weather here; it’s rather warm, so we’re
just making sure the players have warmed up and acclimated to the journey.
Even though I’ve been to the US before, I always like exploring new places and going out and about.
The event I had in New York on Thursday went well, and I was able to take in some of the city’s lovely vistas and
skylines.
But we’ve concentrated on working hard and being prepared to play Manchester United during training. It’s a
delicate balance.
“After two successful training days, we are eager for tomorrow’s game.”
“I’m really looking forward to playing Manchester United at the MetLife Stadium, and it’s always nice,” he continued.
I haven’t been yet, but it sounds like a great experience.
