Fabrizio Romano drops huge €25M update on Sunderland transfer target

Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, has shared some major transfer updates, and they are not good news for Sunderland fans.

Fabrizio Romano announced that Sporting CP had agreed to sign Almeria striker Luis Suarez, who was a transfer target for Sunderland.

The writer explained that the Portuguese club will pay €25 million for the 27-year-old Colombian forward, with Almeria retaining a 10% sell-on clause.

This means Sunderland will miss out on another market target to bolster their attack, forcing them to search for other options.

This procedure is the result of a ‘domino effect’ caused by Arsenal’s almost official acquisition of Viktor Gyokeres (27), according to Romano.

Fabrizio Romano provides a stunning €25 million update on Sunderland transfer target

“Sporting CP has agreed to sign Luis Javier Suarez from Almeria; here we go!” Romano began writing. “Deal is confirmed, as exclusively announced in June.

“€25 million fee package plus 10% sell-on clause,” the journalist said via his Twitter (X) account. Sporting CP have agreed to sign Luis Javier Suárez from Almería.

This isn’t the only issue for Regis Le Bris’ team this transfer window; another attacking target, Gonzalo Garcia (21), appears to be ultimately extending his contract with Real Madrid, according to AS reports.

“Now Gonzalo threatens Endrick’s status and is negotiating a professional contract with Madrid,” they explained in the cited outlet, after the 18-year-old Brazilian attacker sustained another injury.

Furthermore, the failed signing of Sassuolo’s Armand Lauriente (26) adds to the list of ‘failures’ by the Lads board this summer, particularly in their attempt to strengthen the attack.

As a result, we cannot rule out the possibility that further reports linking other offensive players with Sunderland may surface in the coming days, given that Le Bris is clearly looking to add talent in that area.

Other forwards previously linked with the Black Cats include Nantes’ Matthis Abline (22) and OGC Nice’s Evann Guessand (24), but there have been no recent updates.
