As the sum is agreed upon, Knibbs, a standout for Reading FC, is expected to make a Championship move.

The star of Reading FC, Harvey Knibbs, is expected to leave the team soon as a move to a Championship team is almost finalised.

Since joining Reading on a free transfer from Cambridge United in 2023, Knibbs has one year remaining on his current contract.

Several Championship teams have expressed interest in signing the midfield player this summer; Oxford United, Derby County, Portsmouth, Charlton Athletic, and others have all been linked to a move.

Knibbs has yet to feature for Reading so far this pre-season and manager Noel Hunt confirmed that after his team’s defeat to Portsmouth at the Select Car Leasing Stadium that Knibbs had withdrawn from the squad due to a development with a Championship transfer.

According to reports, Charlton have agreed a fee with Reading in the region of £1.8m to sign the 26-year-old.

Knibbs has enjoyed two spectacular seasons with Reading and has scored a total of 25 league goals in 88 matches.

Having had an overwhelming summer transfer window so far, Hunt is very keen to bolster the options in his squad as he looks set to lose one of his key players.
