Kristjaan Speakman eyeing £36m double Sunderland transfer deal as Man City goalkeeper link emerges

Following the Black Cats’ 3-0 loss to Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday, Sundelrand head coach Régis Le Bris stated

that Florent Ghisolfi and Kristjaan Spealman were both making a lot of effort in the transfer market. Ahead of the

Wearsiders’ final four preseason games, we examine the most recent rumours, gossip, and news

Lucumí: Sunderland push towards £19million

Sunderland has reportedly made a new offer for Bologna defender Jhon Lucumí. Several Italian media state that the

current offer is for €22 million plus €3 million in bonuses, or about £19 million in total.

Although Spanish clubs are still in the running, the Colombian international is rumoured to be open to a move after

turning down a new contract offer from Bologna. Although Bologna’s earlier asking price is apparently met by

Sunderland’s offer, the Serie A team is now retaining their offer for €28 million to €30 million, or roughly £24

million to £25.7 million.

Bologna is still demanding €28 million (£24 million), even though Lucumí’s initial release clause expired earlier this

month. After the preseason concludes in early August, his agent will likely make a final decision on the La Liga

options he has been investigating. Sunderland is still very much in the running, but it might take some time.

Riznyk: Goalkeeper search continues

Fabrizio Romano disclosed during the first half at Tynecastle that Sunderland had enquired about the terms of the

contract for Dmytro Riznyk, the goalkeeper for Shakhtar Donetsk.

Although no official offer has been made, the club is keeping an eye on the 6′ 3″ Ukrainian international with

Champions League experience. The 25-year-old signed a long-term contract with Shakhtar just 18 months ago and

has five senior caps, so any move would probably cost a lot of money. In light of Premier League preparations and

Anthony Patterson’s minor injury, Sunderland is evaluating their options in goal.

Striker race: Sunderland among clubs chasing Gueye

Football Insider and L’Équipe have linked Sunderland with a move for Metz striker Idrissa Gueye, one of the most

in-demand young forwards in Europe.

The 18-year-old Senegalese international scored six goals in 17 Ligue 2 appearances last season and can operate both

as a central striker and a second forward. Metz are believed to be holding out for a fee of around €20million

(£17million). Sunderland are joined in the race by Crystal Palace, Brighton, Southampton, Ipswich, and clubs across

Germany and Italy – including Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, and Atalanta.

Ortega and Johnstone updates

Sunderland have also enquired about Manchester City’s Stefan Ortega, according to Mackem News, as they continue

to explore high-level competition or cover for Anthony Patterson. Ortega is believed to be open to staying in

England, but it’s unclear if City would sanction a move at this stage of the summer.

Burnley is currently making headway in the competition for Wolves custodian Sam Johnstone, whom Sunderland

has been pursuing for weeks, according to Alan Nixon. According to reports, Burnley wants to replace James

Trafford with Johnstone, and Wolves is willing to pay almost £8 million to do so. In order to strengthen their

goalkeeping position for their Premier League comeback, Sunderland is reportedly looking at a variety of options.
