The Dutch team hopes to beat the current record of €35 million from Santiago Giménez’s January transfer to AC Milan by making Paixão their record sale, according to a report on Wednesday by RTV Rijnmond.
Gianluca Di Marzio said two days later that Leeds United is making a lot of effort to sign the 25-year-old this summer. According to reports from the Netherlands later that day, the Whites aren’t letting up even after their first bid was turned down.
According to Feyenoord , Leeds is “very close to closing” a deal with the Dutch team for Paixão. This information was posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Additionally, they mentioned that Marseille would make their last bid on Sunday, although that hasn’t happened yet.
The player has negotiated terms with the French club, but Daniel Farke’s team has not yet reached a formal deal with him.
They can quickly conclude this operation if they are able to persuade Paixão. If a recent article from L’Equipe is to be accepted, that won’t be simple.
According to the French daily, Feyenoord reportedly asked for €35 million for the Brazilian, and Leeds United made them an offer over the weekend for €32 million, including bonuses.
The attacker and the Ligue 1 team already have a deal in place, but not with the Eredivisie team.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side made two offers of €16m and €28m including bonuses, which were rejected by Feyenoord.
Some sources suggest their second proposal was on loan with a mandatory purchase option.
Leeds making a higher offer hasn’t put off Marseille as the newspaper reports they will raise their bid to sign the 25-year-old.
According to L’Equipe, the French club will make a ‘third, more generous offer’ to try and find an agreement with Feyenoord.
There’s no mention of the fee they will propose, but the new bid can help them snatch Paixão from Leeds’ clutches
