The Scottish Cup winners attempted to sign the AC Milan striker last season but were thwarted by red tape near the end of the January window.
Nuno de Almeida, Aberdeen’s recruitment chief, and his team have spent the entire summer working on striking targets. The Dons have renewed their interest in Lazetic, but Milan is looking to recoup as much of the €4 million they paid Red Star to re-sign him in 2022.
The Serbian side is also entitled to a sell-on fee. Aberdeen would prefer to buy Lazetic, but would consider a loan as an option.
To land the Serbian under-21 cap, the Dons must also obtain approval and a work visa. Lazetic hasn’t played much football for Milan, and he is unlikely to stay there.
He has spent the last three seasons on loan at Rheindorf Altach, Fortuna Sittard, and finally at TSC.
Thelin has signed Kusini Yengi and has been looking for another forward since Kevin Nisbet and Oday Dabbagh returned to their respective clubs at the end of their loans.
The Aberdeen manager is also looking for another winger and a striker, as well as two more signings, to bulk up his squad for group stage football in either the Europa League or the Conference League. That would result in Thelin signing 11 players during this window.
The key for Thelin, however, is that it must be the right quality and characters to strengthen his squad. Thelin has the full support of Chairman Dave Cormack and his board.
Other players to consider include Richard Jensen and Slobodan Rubezic, who have recently returned from loan spells and will be looking for more first-team opportunities.
