Norwich City transfers: Glenn McCourt signed from Derry City.

Glenn McCourt, a midfield prospect, has signed with Norwich City from Derry City.
The 17-year-old, whose uncle is former Celtic winger Paddy, joins Carrow Road after the Canaries beat off stiff competition for his services, agreeing to a three-year contract in Norfolk with a club option to extend by another 12 months. He will initially train with City’s under-21 development squad.
McCourt has previously attracted Premier League interest, with Derry claiming last year that they turned down ‘two concrete and sizeable offers’ from English top flight clubs for him.
He made his League of Ireland senior debut in 2024 and previously represented Northern Ireland at the under-17 level.
Speaking to official club channels about the move, he said: “I’m really excited to be here. I’m glad the deal is completed and everything is in order, and I can’t wait to get started.” As a player, I enjoy dribbling, getting on the ball, and attacking opponents. I’m playing out wide.
I made my Derry debut last year against Drogheda. It was a surreal experience; it was my hometown team, and making my debut was a dream come true. “I can’t wait to get started. I’ve been injured for the past month or two, so getting back to playing will be fantastic.
I cannot wait. “I’d like to play as many minutes as possible. I want to fit in, and it will undoubtedly be difficult to leave my hometown. This season, I want to play as much as possible and do my best.
