Nottingham Forest agree to sign free agent goalkeeper who is brilliant in training

Nottingham Forest consents to acquire a free agent goalie with exceptional training skills.

To get things started, Igor Jesus left Botafogo to join Forest, while his comrade Jair Cunha followed as a new centre defender.

was acquired from Forest last week. Anthony Elanga, who left for Newcastle in a £60 million move, was replaced by the right-sided forward. At the very least, Nuno Espirito Santo wants four new players, and Forest is already planning to expand the squad’s depth options. Fabrizio Romano claims that the goalie will join Forest immediately, putting an end to the Reds’ hunt for a replacement stopper. After signing a new contract, Matz Sels, who won the Golden Glove the previous season, will undoubtedly be the team’s top custodian for the 2025–2026 season.

Gunn, who has been searching for a club since being released by Norwich at the end of the previous season, joins after completing preseason with the PFA scheme. Despite playing 172 games and recording 47 clean sheets for the Canaries when he was at Carrow Road, he was unable to secure a new contract with the EFL team. After playing for Manchester City as a child, Gunn has also played for Southampton and Stoke City. Although this isn’t the most glitzy acquisition Forest will ever make, it could turn out to be a wise one.

The Reds can now concentrate on spending transfer money elsewhere after acquiring a seasoned 29-year-old to serve as Sels’ backup. When he was in charge of Norwich City, former manager David Wagner praised Gunn’s training skills, thus this could be a wise move. Although Gunn made a mistake in his locker at his previous clubs, Sels was eventually praised for it, and now Wayne Hennessey, the team’s new goalkeeping coach, will help him improve as a stopper at this level.
