‘The right time’ – Brighton chief reveals Carlos Baleba transfer stance after Manchester United enquiry

“The right time,” says Brighton’s manager in response to Manchester United’s inquiry about Carlos Baleba’s transfer.

In the last month of the summer transfer season, Manchester United made preliminary questions about a possible deal for Carlos Baleba, a star for Brighton. Before the deadline, Ruben Amorim would like to bolster his team with a midfielder, and the 21-year-old is thought to be the best candidate for his starting lineup. It is currently thought that a deal for Baleba is doubtful, and if United were to add the Brighton star in addition to their planned acquisition of Benjamin Sesko, a striker for RB Leipzig, they would most likely need to approve a large sell. Baleba will probably be on the move next year, as Brighton has already stated that they do not plan to sell him this summer.
If United wants to persuade the Cameroon international to transfer to Old Trafford in 2026, they may have a year to make their sales pitch. Toby Collyer may depart prior to the deadline day in order to make room for a new midfield addition, while Casemiro’s contract expires at the end of the upcoming season and would save the team a significant amount of money. Just hours before Brighton’s head coach Fabian Hurzeler and chief executive Paul Barber hosted their yearly preseason Fans’ Forum, Manchester United expressed interest in Carlos Baleba.

The two were naturally questioned about the current transfer inquiry, but Barber reaffirmed that Brighton would only trade Baleba when the timing was appropriate for them and that he had not spoken to United directly. The midfielder should stay for’many years’ to come, he continued, implying that this summer isn’t the appropriate time. “We’ve got some great talent, there’s always going to be interest in our players,” Barber stated. “I have not received any communication from Manchester United. Therefore, speculation is guesswork from that perspective. For the benefit of both the player and ourselves, we will always make an effort to sell our top players at the ideal moment.
