FC Köln set to sign Valencia’s Cenk Özkacar, officially tender €7m offer for Middlesbrough’s Rav van den Berg

According to Sport Bild, Sky Germany, and Kicker, Turkish international Cenk Özkacar is undergoing a medical at 1. FC Köln right now. The FC Valencia player is scheduled to join the newly promoted Bundesliga club on loan with a €2 million buy option. Özkakar, a nine-times-capped international, has experience playing in France, Belgium, and Spain.

Köln look to strengthen their defensive corps ahead of the next German top flight season by signing one right-footed and one left-footed central defender. In terms of the cathedral city club’s pursuit of the former, Patrick Berger has an update on attempts to sign Middlesbrough centre-back Rav van den Berg.

Berger says that Köln has made a €7 million bid for the 21-year-old. The Domstädter is currently awaiting a decision from the player and his EFL Championship club. Van den Berg is currently worth an estimated €4.5 million. Based on the data, one might mistakenly believe that the issue is straightforward.

Despite Köln’s hefty offer, Berger believes Feyenoord and Crystal Palace are also interested in the Dutch U21 international. Van den Berg had previously been connected to both VfL Wolfsburg and VfB Stuttgart.
