Sheffield United’s goalkeeper Ivo Grbic has left the club to join Turkish top flight side Fatih Karagümrük on a season-long loan.
Following a lack of playing time at Bramall Lane, Sheffield United’s Croatian goalkeeper Ivo Grbic has signed a season-long loan with top-flight Turkish club Fatih Karagümrük.
The 29-year-old has been something of a journeyman throughout his career, having played for six different clubs in his eight years as a professional, including European heavyweights Athletico Madrid and Lille.
The goalkeeper joined for the Blades in January 2024 for an undisclosed amount in an agreement that runs until 2027.

Grbic began his career with Croatian club Hajduk Split and drew the attention of major European clubs, but he has struggled to establish himself as a first-choice keeper no matter where he goes.
Grbic told BBC Sport that before joining Sheffield United, he had played in several top divisions in France and Spain, as well as in the Champions League with Lille and 15 or 16 games for Atletico last season. I know I’m ready for this challenge.”
Grbic’s time in a Blades shirt has been limited, with only nine appearances before being loaned out to Turkish side Rizespor, where he appeared in 22 league games last season.
Grbic’s loan transfer is foreseeable for Blades fans

With the goalie departing for Turkey for the second season in a row, the Croatian hopes to rekindle a career that never really took off at Sheffield United.
His departure has been welcomed with sorrow, with one Blades fan telling X, “I’m not sure we’ll miss him. This never happened to him at the Lane. “Good luck, Ivo.”
Despite some fans demonstrating their support for the Croatian, the statement on Sheffield United’s X site elicited mixed reactions, with others concerned about the Blades’ lack of transfer activity in this window.
One Blades fan asked via X, “Are you going to make any signings?” “Preferably permanents.”
Summer arrivals appear scant at Bramall Lane
The Blades’ additions of Louie Barry and Djibril Soumare will excite people at Bramall Lane, but the absence of transfer activity in other parts of the pitch may cause concern for fans.
With so much to talk about in terms of Sheffield United’s outgoings, fans are most interested in who is coming in.
