Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship campaign begins on Sunday afternoon when they face Leicester City away.
While the Owls will be looking forward to returning to on-field action, everyone affiliated with the club will still be concerned about the situation off the pitch.
Chris Powell has criticized Dejphon Chansiri’s communication, claiming that players, staff, and supporters are frequently kept in the dark about the club’s present financial predicament as Henrik Pedersen prepares for his first game in charge.
Sheffield Wednesday are looking to sign two Manchester United youngsters after they were removed from the EFL’s embargo list ahead of the weekend. However, they have now set a price on one of their own.
Sheffield Wednesday set £8 million asking price for Pierce Charles
Pierce Charles, who has worked his way up through the club’s ranks in recent years, will take over as the Owls’ number one goalkeeper this season.

At only 20, it is unsurprising that the Sheffield Wednesday shot-stopper has previously sparked attention from Premier League clubs, and the South Yorkshire club has now set a high price for him.
According to Alan Nixon, the teenage goalkeeper’s departure from Hillsborough this summer would cost £8 million. He stated: “Keeper Pierce Charles is for sale at Sheffield Wednesday, but the asking price is around £8 million.”
“Several clubs, notably Leicester, Southampton, and Rangers, have expressed interest in the young shot stopper. However, despite Wednesday’s financial issues and the EFL’s hinting at the need for player sales, the valuation is sky high.”
Pierce Charles is critical to the Owls’ season
With a relatively restricted team for the upcoming season, Charles’ importance has grown dramatically during the summer, and fans will want to see him continue at Hillsborough.
He appeared in eight Championship games for Sheffield Wednesday in 2024/25, surrendering ten goals and failing to keep a clean sheet.
However, as the Owls’ number one, he will be vital as Pedersen attempts to keep the club in the Championship despite the odds being stacked against them from the start.
However, if Chansiri stays, £8 million would help Wednesday stay afloat for a few more months, and those at the top may be forced to act if another club makes a significant offer for Charles.
