Exclusive: Wolfsburg Submit £10m Bid for Sunderland Star Trai Hume
Wolfsburg have made a £10m bid for Sunderland’s Northern Ireland international Trai Hume according to GIVEMESPORT sources, but the newly-promoted Premier League club are determined to keep hold of their influential right-back.
Hume, 23, signed a contract extension in 2023 to commit his future at the Stadium of Light until 2027. Since then he has become a pivotal figure in the side, starting almost every game in the promotion campaign and earning both player of the year and players’ player of the year awards.
At international level, his rise has been just as impressive. In September 2024 he captained Northern Ireland for the first time in a friendly against Luxembourg, underlining his growing reputation as a leader as well as a dependable defender.
Sunderland Have ‘No Desire’ to Sell Trai Hume
Sunderland’s hierarchy see Hume as integral to their survival plans and have no desire to sell, particularly so close to the start of the season. There is a belief Wolfsburg’s approach undervalues a player whose influence was central to their climb out of the Championship.
The German side are keen to strengthen before the Bundesliga campaign begins, but prising Hume away will require far more than an opening offer.
The Black Cats begin their season at home to West Ham on Saturday. For now, the club’s stance is unambiguous: Hume is a key part of their present and future, and £10m will not change that.
