Jim Goodwin highlights Dundee United’s “really important” comeback, while Ivan Dolcek discusses the crowd factor.

Ivan Dolček made his competitive debut for Dundee United in their Europa Conference League qualifier against UNA Strassen, and he did so immersed in a Tannadice-like roar.

Although he’d prepared by watching footage of derby clashes and chatting with teammates like Vicko Sevelj, nothing compared to the live energy he experienced. “They pushed us to the limit … it was really crazy. It was positive, good energy,” Dolček said of the fans in Luxembourg.

“I hope it will be this positive all season and, for that, we need to give the supporters good results” .

Dolček’s admiration is well-founded. United’s transformation this season extends beyond results; it’s about the reconnection with supporters. Goodwin has repeatedly spotlighted the fans’ return as a cornerstone of the club’s revival. Speaking after amid a crucial victory, he remarked that the team is “really important… in good spirits after a really good result”; the result and the supportive crowd “iron[ed] out some of those issues” following a derby defeat .

Indeed, Goodwin has praised fans both for their turnout and their infectious energy. After United were pegged back by Inverness, he detected a game-changing response: “I thought the supporters’ reaction was really positive. That gave the boys a bit of a lift when they needed it” . In tougher stretches earlier in the season, he acknowledged the supporters’ patience and belief in difficult circumstances: “They were maybe disillusioned … but they have really rallied. The team has shown … the fans have got right behind them. It has given the players real confidence” .

For Dolček—and indeed for the team—this isn’t just about numbers in the stands. It’s about a symbiotic energy, a reciprocal uplift. His call for results isn’t rhetorical; it’s an acknowledgment that performances must match fans’ passion.

As the manager and the squad lean on fan momentum, Dolček’s excitement appears poised to turn into dynamic displays on the pitch. For him, as for Dundee United, this isn’t just a season—it’s a shared journey powered by the terrace.
