Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris admits the club could make more additions this summer.
The Black Cats have already signed 11 new players this summer after being promoted from the Championship last season.
When asked if he expected increased business, Le Bris replied, “We’ll see. We have one, two, or three positions we may strengthen, but it depends on the market.”
Sunderland has confirmed the departure of Pierre Ekwah, who has completed a permanent transfer to AS Saint-Étienne.
The midfielder spent last season on loan with the club, which had the option to buy him permanently.
Throughout his stint at the Stadium of Light, he appeared in 61 games and scored five goals.
Le Bris and Sunderland have also confirmed that Granit Xhaka, a summer transfer and former Arsenal midfielder, will captain the club this season, succeeding Dan Neil.

“It’s really natural because of Granit’s level and his experience, leadership, and understanding of the game,” Le Bris said of the move. “After 10 minutes on the pitch, it’s clear that he’ll be our captain.”
“For Dan [Neil], it’s an opportunity to progress; he’s young, only 23, and has the potential to play in the Premier League. For us as a club, squad, coach, and manager, this fresh experience is an opportunity to evolve, as is the case for Dan.”
