Russell Martin ‘should be deeply concerned’ if Nobel Mendy admission is anything to go by

On paper, Max Aarons and other additions seemed like good fits, but they are still getting used to playing in G51.

However, going future, supporters will likely be extremely alarmed by Martin’s recent remarks about the Gers’ transfer policy.

If Jack Butland hadn’t been playing at his best, the Light Blues might not have enjoyed the success they have in their Champions League qualification matches in Europe.

Martin was questioned over Real Betis defender Nobel Mendy, who was anticipated to be the 49ers’ newest addition to the Light Blues, prior to Rangers’ Scottish League Cup match against Alloa.

However, reports have since emerged on Saturday suggesting that deal is off.

When questioned about the 21-year-old Belgian, Martin responded, “I can’t tell you anything about the kid because he doesn’t play for us.”

“In my entire life, I have never spoken to him. So, I’m not really sure. It’s accurate. I’m not lying to you. I’m not sure.

Supporters may legitimately wonder how much Martin participates in the Ibrox hiring process if this is indeed the case.

It’s difficult to believe that the manager would have not even spoken to a player who was rumored to be close to joining at the time. This is unless the 49ers are trying to acquire players who they believe would improve the team without pandering to a particular manager.
