Coventry City handed ‘big’ warning as Sheffield United lodge £8m bid for star defender
Latest Coventry City transfer news as the future of Bobby Thomas remains uncertain

Frank Lampard has been warned of a “big loss” should Coventry City sanction the exit of star defender Bobby Thomas.
It comes after reports emerged of Championship rivals Sheffield United submitting a bid worth up to £8m for the 24-year-old centre-half.
The Star claims Lampard and Co will first have to sort out defensive reinforcements before they even think about letting anyone leave the CBS Arena this summer after already selling Luis Binks to Danes Bronby.
Ex-Blade Lee Hendrie believes signing Thomas would be a real coup for his former club – but has also issued a stark warning to the Sky Blues.
Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.
“Bobby Thomas, when he went to Coventry, people were thinking was he going to be a good signing, and he has been. That’s why they’ve taken that £8m bid from Sheffield United for him ” Hendrie told Football League World.
“I can understand, but I think it’d be a big loss for Coventry if this happened just because you do all your work during pre-season and then disrupting what you have.
“£8 million, I’m sure that that’ll be looked at and certainly viewed, but I think it’d be a loss for Coventry and a good coup for Sheffield United, again just bolstering that defence.”
Thomas is now into his third season as a Sky Blue and has started both of their league games this term, against Derby County and Hull City, as well as last week’s Carabao Cup clash versus Luton Town.
