Newcastle United have been strongly linked with a move for the Wolverhampton Wanderers frontman
Despite speculation that Newcastle United is interested in signing Jorgen Strand Larsen, Wolves manager Vitor Pereira insists he has no reservations about his concentration this weekend.
The Norwegian frontman has been the subject of considerable conjecture this week, with Newcastle reportedly interested in signing the 25-year-old.
Wolves are not happy on losing Strand Larsen so late in the window, especially after Matheus Cunha’s move to Manchester United, and rumors suggest they have set a £60 million price tag for the striker.
Newcastle are keen to make a breakthrough in the window with striking targets, having seen deals for Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike, and Benjamin Sesko fall through.
Alexander Isak’s refusal to play for United while negotiating a move to Liverpool has made life difficult for head coach Eddie Howe, with the Magpies linked with Strand Larsen, Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson.
According to reports this week, Strand Larsen is interested in a move to Tyneside, with Champions League football cited as a major incentive for the Wolves player.
However, ahead of Saturday’s Premier League game against Bournemouth, Pereira claims his striker is completely focused on the task at hand.
“He is a very important player for us – I haven’t spoken with him about it,” he said of the rumours.
“I see him in training, and he’s committed. He prefers to win and is a warrior. He’s set to play against Bournemouth tomorrow.
“The market remains the market. Players may enter and exit as long as the window remains open. “This is football.
Newcastle are running out of time to sign at least one striker before the transfer deadline on September 1.
Anthony Gordon will lead the line against Liverpool in Monday night’s Premier League match at St James’ Park, with Will Osula and youngster Sean Neave as backups.
