Official: Inter Miami Sign Argentina U20 from Newell’s old boys

Inter Miami CF have completed the signing of promising Argentina U20 international Mateo Silvetti from Newell’s Old Boys, the club confirmed on Saturday.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has been touted as one of Argentina’s brightest young prospects and becomes the latest South American talent to join the Major League Soccer side, which continues to build its squad around youth and international flair.

Silvetti rose through the ranks at Newell’s Old Boys, a club famed for developing elite talents like Lionel Messi, Marcelo Bielsa, and Gabriel Heinze. His performances at youth level and with Argentina’s U20 national team caught the attention of scouts worldwide, but it was Inter Miami who secured his signature in a deal reportedly involving a multi-year contract and an undisclosed transfer fee.

> “Mateo is a special talent with great vision, technical ability, and maturity beyond his years,” said Inter Miami sporting director Chris Henderson. “We believe he has the potential to make an immediate impact in MLS and develop into a key piece of our long-term project.

Silvetti is expected to join the team immediately and could feature in upcoming MLS matches as Inter Miami push for a playoff spot. He will also reunite with fellow Argentines including captain Lionel Messi, which many believe could accelerate his development and integration into the squad.
