Maidstone has signed teenage striker Patrick Casey on loan from Championship club Charlton.
Casey is highly regarded by the Addicks, having impressed in their academy system, and has joined the Stones on an initial 28-day contract to acquire experience in men’s football.
The attacker made his debut as a half-time substitute in Maidstone’s 1-0 National League South victory over AFC Totton yesterday.
“He is a player we’ve watched a lot, and we know what he can bring to our attacking line,” manager George Elokobi stated.
“There was a lot of interest in Patrick, so it’s crucial that he choose us.
“I’m overjoyed to finally finish this one.
“Charlton believes that now is the time for him to compete in senior football and develop because it is critical that he develops all of the different aspects of his game.”
“He’s thrilled to seize this opportunity.
“We have to safeguard him on behalf of Charlton; we have to watch after him, but we also have to ensure that he develops properly here with us.

“With the structure we’ve got at Maidstone United Football Club, I believe we can add so much value on to the ability that he’s got already and make him a much more accomplished footballer so that when he leaves our environment, whenever that’s going to be, he goes back to Charlton and is ready to kick on.”
Deon Moore scored the only goal as Maidstone defeated newly promoted Totton.
The Stones missed two penalties, the first by captain Sam Corne and the second by Moore, who was denied by goalkeeper Ryan Gosney.
However, Moore’s first-half header was enough, as United remain unblemished heading into their Bank Holiday Monday home encounter against Chelmsford.
On Bank Holiday Monday (3pm), they will host Chelmsford at Gallagher.
