Aston Villa To Splash Cash To Add Youngster Before Window Closes

Before the window closes, Aston Villa will spend money to add a young player.

The Birmingham team is eager to get Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United in order to complete transactions before the window closes.

Aston Villa is trying to finalise the transfer and has offered to take the Brazilian on loan with a commitment to make the move permanent. It is unclear what will transpire within the next few hours of the window, but the Hammers are emphatic that Paqueta will not be leaving them this summer. However, Villa is also making other efforts to acquire young players who have the potential to contribute to the first squad in the future.

Unai Emery’s team has taken notice of Boyd, a 17-year-old offensive midfielder for Aberdeen. The Pittodrie team holds Boyd, a graduate of the Aberdeen academy, in high regard, and his Scottish football skills have impressed Aston Villa.

Aberdeen will pay £1 million plus add-ons for the teenager, who is expected to be acquired by Aston Villa. The 17-year-old flew to Birmingham on Saturday after Villa and he reached a personal agreement that will result in him receiving a hefty pay raise. The Dons star started his medical on Saturday, and if everything goes according to plan, he should sign a contract with Aston Villa.

Boyd has now made 12 appearances for Aberdeen’s senior team, and he has made three appearances in all competitions this season, all of which have been as a substitute. Since they have previously acquired players like Rory Wilson, Aidan Borland, and Kerr Smith, Aston Villa is no stranger to the Scottish market. When the transfer is finalised, Boyd will want to make an immediate impact for Villa and is more likely to play for the Under-21 team as he gets used to his new surroundings.
