Bournemouth transfer news: AC Milan defender ‘agrees loan agreement’ with Cherries, with buyout option disclosed

According to reports, Bournemouth has agreed to sign Alex Jimenezon, a defender for AC Milan, on a first loan. Jimenez joined the Rossoneri on loan from Real Madrid, a Spanish powerhouse, and has been with them for the past two years.

Last summer, the 20-year-old turned his loan swap into a permanent one, agreeing to a deal that would run until the summer of 2028 with a one-year extension option. But after just 45 minutes of action in Milan’s first three league games, Jimenez appears destined to leave Serie A for the Premier League. The Daily Echo claims that Bournemouth and the Italian team have reached an agreement for a season-long loan transfer. The agreement gives the Cherries the chance to pay €19 million (£16.5 million) to sign the Spaniard permanently the following summer.

Before being introduced as the newest member of Andoni Iraola’s team, Jimenez is reportedly going to England for a medical examination. With the addition of Djordje Petrovic, Adrien Truffert, Bafode Diakite, Amine Adli, and Ben Gannon Doak, the young player should be Bournemouth’s sixth summer addition. Prior to Saturday’s victory against Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth was already interested in signing Jimenez; however, their need for a new full-back has increased when Adam Smith was substituted due to an injury in the first half.

Jimenez will provide Smith, Julian Araujo, Julio Soler, and Truffert with competition because he can play on either side of defence. Initially, Jimenez will likely come to operate on the right side of the back four if Smith is out of action for any extended duration. The former Real Madrid player will be a flexible choice for Iraola because he can also play as a wing-back and winger when needed.
