Wolves fans are hoping for a busy transfer deadline day, and there could be potential for one target to leave his club for a knock-down fee.
Wolves should sign Tolu Arokodare today, after the striker flew in from Belgium yesterday to finalize his deal to Molineux.
Arokodare is not a substitute for Jorgen Strand Larsen, who was informed by Wolves that he will not be leaving today.
Wolves are also looking for a new midfielder.
Wolves are thought to have initiated talks with Josh Brownhill about a free transfer, although there is competition for the former Burnley player, who has a substantial offer from Saudi Arabia.
Another player to keep an eye on today is Nicolas Raskin, especially given one claim this morning.
Nicolas Raskin could leave Rangers for a knock-down fee, Wolves monitoring
Raskin has been on Wolves’ radar since earlier this summer.
The Belgian international is regarded as one of Scotland’s top midfielders, with Russell Martin recently calling him ‘a truly outstanding footballer’ (via Rangers Review). However, his future is still quite questionable.
Raskin was left out of Rangers’ team to face Celtic by manager Martin over the weekend, sparking concerns over his future.
According to The Scotsman, the 24-year-old’s relationship with Martin appears to be’strained’, despite being a fan favourite. His status is being monitored by both the Wolves and Crystal Palace.
And, strangely, Keith Jackson, the Daily Record’s lead football reporter, stated this morning: “He’ll be sold at the eleventh hour – probably for a bargain price – before the transfer window closes.”
“It looks as if there is no way back for him under the current management.”
Another journalist from the Daily Record. Michael Gannon said, “He waved goodbye and never played for the club again.” There is no going back for the Belgian.
How much could Raskin cost?
Former Rangers interim manager Barry Ferguson recently indicated that he believes Raskin is worth at least £15 million.
He stated, “Nico can play in the Premier League all day long.” I worked with him for three months. He possesses all of the qualities and is still in his prime.
“He still has certain things to clean up, but he realizes that. He has an opinion that I liked. He’s very enthusiastic and eager to learn. All day, he may play in the Premier League.
“Now, Rangers must be seeking for a high price for Nico. I’m looking at at least £15 million for Nico, plus the rest!”
Given his awkward circumstances and Jackson’s claim, there may be room to contract him for a lower price.
However, Wolves would need to free up another non-homegrown space in their roster before making any move.
