Will Alves, a talented offensive midfielder, joined Huddersfield Town on a season-long loan from Championship

team Leicester City on deadline day.

The 20-year-old Alves joined the Foxes in 2014 and has made six first-team appearances. The offensive midfielder is

hoping to improve in Yorkshire following a good first loan stint in the Championship with Cardiff City last season.

In order to improve their creative department, which needed to be strengthened on deadline day, Huddersfield Town

signed Alves.

After excelling in academy football, the England U20 international, who has 12 youth caps, has been gradually

gaining more senior-level experience. During the second half of the 2024–25 season, he showed some encouraging

signs while playing for Cardiff City.

He made his Premier League debut last season, entering the game during Leicester City’s loss to Manchester City,

thanks to his early career potential.

His potential hasn’t gone unnoticed by the hierarchy with the Leicester-born player signing a new four-year deal at

the club in 2024, earning praise from current manager Marti Cifuentes during the Foxes pre-season campaign.

Huddersfield Town will hope that Alves can settle in quickly. HTAFC may have to be patient with him initially whilst

he adapts to life in a new league.

Grant’s men were beaten 3-1 away from home by Barnsley last time out, with Owen Goodman sent off against the

Tykes.

Tuesday night marks Huddersfield Town’s return to action as they take on Newcastle United’s youth in an EFL

Trophy match. They play winless Peterborough United, who are now at the bottom of the table, at home this

weekend to make a swift return to League One action.

After an unimpressive 2024–2025 season, HTAFC hired Grant as their head coach in May. He previously served on

the coaching staff at Ipswich Town, where he helped the team get promoted to the Premier League under Kieran

McKenna. This is his first experience managing a first team.
