Targets for West Ham and Bournemouth, winger enigma and unsuccessful deals from Leicester City

In order to bolster Marti Cifuentes’ team and give it a new vibe, Leicester City closed three deadline-day transfers. However, during the last few days of the transfer window, players other than Aaron Ramsey, Jordan James, and Julian Carranza were all linked to a move to City. Midfield was a top priority for City after the signing of James and Ramsey, particularly since Bilal El Khannouss left for Stuttgart. According to The Athletic, City attempted to sign Scotland international Andy Irving from West Ham, so it appears they weren’t the only players they looked at.
Wrexham was also interested, but no trade was made because Irving, who has made two substitute appearances for the Hammers this season, was not interested in falling into the Championship. Additionally, there were rumours that City had made a large contract offer to free agent Josh Brownhill, which is inconsistent with the team’s efforts to reduce payroll. For the 2025–2026 season, Sky has lowered the cost of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle by £336, giving subscribers access to almost 1,400 live Premier League, EFL, and other matches.
This season, Sky plans to broadcast at least 215 live Premier League games, with the possibility of an additional 100. The midfield player, who was apparently turned down by Wolves, is still a free agent after winning promotion with Burnley the previous season. There are rumours that he plans to join Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia. In the 72 hours before to the window closing, City was connected to a number of wingers, but on the day of the deadline, they showed little interest in pursuing any of those alleged targets.
On Monday, the team made no attempt to sign Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, and despite Portsmouth supporters’ fears that City would steal their season-winning player, Josh Murphy, there was also no last-minute bid for him. Murphy recorded 14 assists in the Championship the previous season, but Pompey reportedly turned down two City bids for him, according to reports from the south coast. Additionally, according to the Bournemouth Echo, the Cherries offered their right-sided winger Romain Faivre the chance to meet with City and numerous other teams, but the Frenchman declined the opportunity to stay at the Vitality Stadium.
