West Brom, Wrexham, and Birmingham City compete to sign “excellent” free agent Ryan Mason, who is adored at Spurs.

Championship clubs can still sign free agents all season long, even though the summer transfer market deadline day has passed. Three free agents could help Sheffield Wednesday following their summer financial struggles, and Blackburn Rovers have entered the free agent market after pursuing centre-back Craig Dawson.
The three Championship teams—Brighton City, Wrexham, and West Brom—all had successful windows, including the two recently promoted teams. According to reports, those three teams are the “favourites” to sign one of the most well-known free players available. The satisfaction with their teams will never end, especially considering the eye-catching expenditures of both Wrexham and the American-backed Blues. According to rumours, West Brom, Wrexham, and Birmingham are vying for the services of free agent Dele Alli following his departure from Como, an Italian team.
After Alli mutually decided to end his 18-month Como deal less than eight months in, the Daily Mail reports that “Birmingham City, Wrexham, and West Brom have emerged as the favourites” to sign him. After joining the Serie A team in January, Alli had a brief and terrible time there. He only played once for Cesc Fabregas’ team, against AC Milan, in a 2-1 loss, and was sent off after just eight minutes as a substitute.
Earlier this month, Alli was linked to a move to Swansea City, but despite his Spurs connection to Swans co-owner Luka Modric, the move has fallen through. Alli is still among the top five free agents that Championship teams should pursue, but his sharp decline in play since his Tottenham days casts a glaring shadow over the Englishman’s future.
