Shilen Patel reacts as big off-pitch West Brom change is confirmed

Shilen Patel responds to the verified significant off-pitch West Brom overhaul

The Hawthorns have seen a lot of change this summer as Ryan Mason was appointed as the new manager as Patel gets ready for his first full season in charge. Despite a high player turnover rate in the market, Albion’s strong start to the season—they now sit second in the table—indicates that it may be a bright one for the team. Miles’ departure from his position as managing director has been announced, marking yet another high-profile move at Albion. In addition to being the director and trustee of The Albion Foundation, he has been a member of the club since 2003.

After Patel purchased the Baggies in February 2024, Miles, who has witnessed a lot over the years, described how he had succeeded in stabilising the team and leaving them in capable hands. Additionally, Patel clarified to the BBC how Miles helped him comprehend the essence of Albion and highlighted his involvement in ensuring the team survived more challenging times in the past. Miles’ remarks suggest that it was part of the plan, and he is leaving the club in a healthy position under Patel. It is clearly not ideal for a key off-field figure to leave.

Albion was in disarray when Patel took over, but they have improved significantly over the last 18 months, and the team is now in a far better financial position. Fans will, of course, ultimately evaluate the team according on its performance on the pitch, and Mason is showing encouraging results thus far. Fans will therefore have complete faith in the existing administration, and while though Miles will be missed and his contribution valued, it is obvious that Patel will be in good hands to lead them in the years to come.
