‘They aren’t particularly well coached’: EFL expert gives opinions on Noel Hunt’s Reading FC.

An EFL football podcast has characterised Noel Hunt’s Reading FC team as one that “aren’t particularly well coached.”

Currently in 21st place after games, the Royals have had a challenging start to their League One campaign.

In addition to losing four games, most recently a 3-2 loss at Barnsley on Saturday, Reading has only earned one

victory, against Port Vale.

Under Rob Couhig’s new ownership, Reading supporters were looking for a new beginning, but Hunt’s management

hasn’t produced any positive on-field outcomes thus far.

The hosts of the “Not The Top 20” podcast, George Elek and Ali Maxwell, talked about Reading’s difficult season

debut.

According to their statement, “you had to respect them for finding a way to get points on the board and challenge for

play-offs given the unrest of Dai Yongge’s ownership last season, given what was going on off the pitch.”

“This year is unique. The expectations are higher now that the new owners are in, and they have made a significant

recruitment effort.

Given a quality moment, they defeated Port Vale. Joel Pereira is an excellent goalie and goal stopper, but I don’t

think relying just on a strong keeper’s ability to save shots and hoping someone scores a game-winning goal in the

final third is a sustainable method to gain points.

According to a lot of information I’ve seen, Reading is a bad squad with some excellent players.

That supports their claim that, despite their lack of excellent coaching, they have talented players who can produce a

magical moment.

“Unless anything changes, I think we’ll see a run similar to what they had at the beginning of the season, which will

eventually result in Noel Hunt being fired and replaced by a manager who has a better record of assembling a

respectable team.

“Instead of depending on worldies from Wing, I would prefer to see them more as a cohesive attacking unit.”

On Saturday, September 20, Reading will return to League One play at the Select Car Leasing Stadium against

Leyton Orient.
