Caleb Wiley and Nathan Baxter react to Millwall defeat

Nathan Baxter and Caleb Wiley respond to Millwall’s loss.

Wiley signed a one-year contract with the Hornets this summer after playing ten games on loan from Chelsea last season, although he has missed so far due to back and adductor problems.

The USA international nearly equalised Monday after following in on Nestory Irankunda’s long-range attempt in south London during his appearance as a second-half substitute. “I knew the custodian wouldn’t catch it once I saw Nestory wind up and shoot, and there was going to be a rebound somewhere, so I had to be the first one to it,” he said on the club website. It was regrettable because I had trouble getting my leg around the ball. “I’m still a little rusty and could have done some things better, but I’m not concerned because I know it comes with time and game experience.

“I’ve been eager to get back out on the pitch as it’s been a few months, but it was unfortunate for the result.” Goalie Nathan Baxter was one of Watford’s four debutants on Monday night, if you include Wiley. After Egil Selvik was substituted at halftime due to a concussion issue, the summer acquisition was made. Paulo Pezzolano stated during the match that the Norwegian will go through some tests but appeared to be in good health.

Baxter was happy to be involved for the first time, but he wasn’t called upon too often after the break. “I’ve been training really hard and felt ready,” he stated. It was good to play, but it’s hard to see the good in a game in which we didn’t score any points. Coming off the bench is difficult, but Sacha [Lanchi] and Alex [Brunner] helped me get warmed up and prepared.

“You’re not used to it as a goalie because I’ve only ever entered as a substitute once. “I’ve made an effort to remain composed and put in a lot of effort every day. “If we had won the equaliser and witnessed the supporters rejoicing after winning something from here, it would have been much more pleasant. “It’s nice from a personal perspective to play but disappointing overall.”
